Covers Unveiled: Darkness Tangled - Jennifer Estep, Kelly Keaton

Release: April 26th, 2011

Jennifer Estep revealed the preliminary cover for Tangled Threads, the fourth in her Elemental Assassin series to date.

'I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings.

But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy business man Owen Grayson’s front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesn’t shy away from my past—or my present. And right now I have a bull’s-eye on my forehead. Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there’s a fifty-fifty chance one of us won’t survive this battle. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too. The only problem is, Bria has no idea I’m her long-lost sibling … or that I’m the murderer she’s been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead . . .'

Thoughts: *Stares in awe at the atmospheric red.* Whilst I'm basking in my jonesing for gothic elements below, I'm doing the same for the contrasting red and black here. My affinity for red sated, the model, pose and elements relating to the story make this another eye-worthy cover.

Release: February 22, 2011.

Kelly Gay aka. Kelly Keaton "uncovered" the cover for her first Young Adult novel within the genre of Dark Urban Fantasy, Darkness Becomes Her.

'Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.

Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.'

Thoughts: I frigging heart this cover. When I first lit with interest on the subject of books years back, this is the sort of cover I would have picked up. The colours, font, depictions and synopsis: hook, line and sinker. The tag line 'beneath every beauty, evil stirs' has captured my attention too.

Where do your thoughts lie?
