Throwdown Thursday: The Mark of the Vampire Queen - Joey W. Hill vs. Tie Me Down - Tracy Wolff

Throwdown Thursday is a weekly thing (hosted by the Neverending Shelf and thanks to All Things Urban Fantasy who opened my eyes to it) where we tackle books with similar characters, covers, themes, etc. to determine which one rocks more. It is up to YOU to determine the winner.

The presence of characters on book covers with the preference for either the female, male or both the hero and heroine depicted was the highlight of last weeks Throwdown. The preference: all if done well. There's a requirement of sorts from readers (including me) to have the cover relate in some way to the story within whilst the genre they fall into rises expectations of certain elements that are aimed to appeal to the followers of them.

This week, I am pitting together the US cover art of Joey W. Hill's The Mark of the Vampire Queen against Tracy Wolff's US cover art for Tie Me Down.

Which of these covers appeals to you more?

The Mark of the Vampire Queen?

'Full servant. With his new title, Jacob must attend to Lady Lyssa's every need, venturing into a world of passion darker than he's ever known. As a vampire hunter he wasn't prepared to embrace a world where humans are sexual commodities, but he has adapted. Now he finds the integrity of his soul challenged as he serves his Mistress's needs as fully as he services her desires.

He loves her, though other servants warn against giving her his soul. Everyone knows that Vampires have no regard for humans, so why would a Vampiress bother treating a mere sex toy with respect? But Jacob knows a human servant is far more than that. His Mistress needs a warrior, a friend and a lover. A man who will serve her in all ways, even if he has to betray the priceless treasure of her love.'

Or . . . .

Tie Me Down?

'As the only woman on her homicide squad, Genevieve Delacroix maintains a tough-as-nails attitude that keeps men at arm’s length. She never gives into her secret fantasies…until she meets a mysterious stranger who teaches her how little control she really has-over her mind and her body.

Cole Adams arrives in New Orleans believing star investigator Genevieve is his last hope for solving the murder of his younger sister. He just doesn’t expect the hard-assed detective to look like a blond bombshell. Once he breaks through her inhibitions, he soon finds an unexpected obsession-driving Genevieve right to the edge of desire, and beyond…

But when the serial killer who has been terrorizing the streets of the French Quarter sets his sights on Genevieve, the lovers realize they’ve both let down their guard. And losing control could have fatal consequences . . .'

This Throwdown will remain open until 28th July, 2010.
