Throwdown Thursday is a weekly thing (hosted by the Neverending Shelf & thanks to All Things Urban Fantasy who opened my eyes to it) where we tackle books with similar characters, covers, themes, etc. to determine which one rocks more. It is up to YOU to determine the winner.
Meljean Brook's and Skyler White's US covers for their upcoming releases, The Iron Duke and In Dreams Begin, were featured in last weeks Throwdown. The result of votes: a draw, each cover believed to be representing their specific genres perfectly; no winner, no loser. Love your way on words VFG!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This week, two covers with certain similarities and dominating colours are up for the debate of preference. A showcase into worlds of various beings and characteristics unique to their settings, they give a glimpse into very different territory whilst complementing one another.
In a third and second installment comparison, where does your preference lie?
With Nalini Singh's recently unveiled Archangel's Consort?
Or . . . . Anya Bast's September release of Cruel Enchantment?
'When vampire hunter Elena Deveraux became an angel, with magnificent wings the colours of midnight and dawn, it turned her world upside down. Her lover, the stunningly dangerous archangel Raphael, is used to being in control even when it comes to the woman he considers his own.
But Elena has never done well with authority. . . especially not when it seems Raphael is the one who needs her help. The archangels may be almost all-powerful, but there are some things that only a Guild Hunter can get done, and Elena and Raphael may be heading for their most dangerous investigation yet.' -- Archangel's Consort.
'Even the most powerful hands need a delicate touch. . . .
Emmaline Gallagher is a master of wielding personal glamour. As a free fae who lives among humans, she must hide her true self at all times as she works undercover within the powerful Phaendir—for if certain factions within the Phaendir gain control, the fae will be wiped from existence. Now, an object of fae power lies within a locked ancient box. And there is only one fae who can forge the key.
Known as “the Blacksmith” Aeric O’Malley can create or destroy almost anything with his forging skills. Emmaline has come to him in need, but he and Emmaline have a past—and he has spent centuries wanting to take revenge on her for her transgressions. But now that he has her within his grasp, something about her keeps him from exacting his vengeance—or is it merely her glamour blinding him?
Trapped by fate, Emmaline must hope that she can reach Aeric’s furious heart before it’s too late. . .' -- Cruel Enchantment.
This Throwdown will remain open until 1st September, 2010.

The cover for Archangel's Consort is amazing. I love it so much. It is the best cover I've seen for awhile. (I may be exaggerating, but I can't help myself, I LOVE THAT SERIES!)
I'm reading Cruel Enchantment right now, it is so good.
I agree. Archangel's Consort's cover is beautiful! But purple wings?! I'm going to assume that they are so black that they seem purple in the light...yeah. That must be it ;)
ARCHANGEL'S CONSORT all the way!! There's no contest.
